Plenty of travel sites rank tours by commission rate and call it a recommendation. This page is here so you can check whether this one does the same.

What each guide is built on

Every comparison starts with real keyword research to see what people actually search for, then a read of the top-ranking pages already answering that question, so the guide adds something they do not have rather than repeating them. Tour prices, durations and ratings come from Viator's live listings, not copied from another blog. Historical or factual claims are checked against primary sources: an attraction's own site, in preference to a summary of a summary.

What has not been done first-hand

Not every tour compared here has been taken in person. Where a recommendation comes from first-hand experience, the guide says so directly. Where it comes from verified pricing, published reviews and comparing what operators actually offer, it says that instead. Treat those as different claims, because they are.

How prices are verified

Prices are checked against the operator or Viator's listing at the time of writing and re-checked on a regular pass. Each guide carries a "verified" date so you can see how current it is rather than trusting it blindly.

Conflicts of interest

This site earns a commission when you book through some of its links, disclosed on the disclosure page. Operators cannot pay for placement, cannot pay to rank higher in a comparison, and cannot pay to have criticism removed. No press trips or comped tours have been accepted for this site. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page in question, not buried here.

Corrections

If something is wrong, out of date, or an operator has changed what it offers, that gets fixed. Write to hola@theedinburghtourguide.com or use the contact page.
